They’re the unsung hero of cycling attire; the ever-present in any condition, used across every discipline, as important indoors as they are outside. The under-appreciated bib-shorts are taken for granted, a mere afterthought — working hard with little credit. It’s time to put right those wrongs, it’s time we worshipped in the church of the bib-shorts.
We’re immensely proud of the full idō kit and we’d encourage everyone to share in the benefits each piece brings, but if we were to pick our favourite child – whisper it quietly – maybe it’s the bibs. It can’t be underestimated how important a good pair of bib-shorts are to a cyclist’s well-being. At the very least they provide comfort and, when made well, offer increased support and improved performance.
"The style and look of the bibs is spot on. The fabrics used, the cut and chamois are great"

Foundation Stations
Bib-shorts are the foundation to a stylish cycling rigout — a solid colour to soften the effects of a loud jersey or to reinforce a pared down aesthetic. In recent years we’ve all enjoyed a lot more choice in the colour of our bibs with navy, green and red hues all becoming popular. Louder bibs still divide opinion with World Tour specimens being the worst offenders. From KOM leaders’ polka dots to white World Champs’ horrors and AG2R’s steadfast insistence on wearing brown.
We prefer our bibs classic — understated, sophisticated and hardworking. We also think dark colours are more forgiving of the battering indoor cycling provides, with dyed fabrics capable of withstanding the constant workout / wash cycle. It also allows our idõ logo to stand out proudly whilst not being over bearing.
Technically Gifted
There are few touchpoints between your body and the bike, but these become even more significant when riding indoors. Hands, feet and seat are the only places you need to worry about and the latter is likely to be where you want the most help, especially with little change in riding position during a workout.
Our shorts are engineered to support the natural movement of your body, keep you cool and maintain comfort whilst training and racing indoors. They’re ultralight without concession to strength and durability, with graduated compression to optimise muscle support and reduce the effects of fatigue. These shorts are working hard for you, even if you don’t realise it.
"I love these bib-shorts! The straps and the compression in particular — the way it nips in and holds the waist. I always run hot, so these are my new favourites."
Charlotte, East Sussex
Tops Off
We know that not everyone wears a jersey on the turbo, some people prefer a looser top or nothing at all. We get that. We can tell you why our jersey helps keep you cool but we understand personal preferences. When it comes to bib-shorts we know we don’t need to preach to the converted, the beauty of a quality chamois pad speaks for itself!
We’re proud that cyclists who have tried our bibs have given us great feedback and expressed surprise at how well they managed heat dissipation. Committed ‘bib strap removers’ completed full, intense workouts with the straps remaining in position. To us that’s reason enough to praise the bibs and hold them in the esteem they deserve.
"So, so comfy! The fabric holds all around the legs really nicely. Just feels nice and secure on the bike."
Bianca, London
